It has unique parcel identification numbers [PINS] for each structured DLS parcel polygon. Standardized DLS descriptors are attributes to the PINS and are stored in the .dbf file for shape file users and in the .mdb file for AutoCAD users. 2. It has "holes" for those areas covered by the Manitoba Cadastral Mapping Series datasets. This Series contains digital registered survey plan bases for the majority of Manitoba's urban and community areas. The advantage to the user is that the DLS fabric within these holes is spatially accurate to 5m or better due to the fact the polygons within the holes are based on survey plan measurements and property corners integrated by GPS. The DLS fabric outside of these holes varies in spatial accuracy from 5m to 200m depending on the source data used in its compilation [orthophotos, NTS map sheets]. Purpose: The purpose of this DLS grid product is to provide users with structured polygons for the Manitoba DLS quarter-section and parish systems in a format suitable for GIS applications and DLS georeferencing. It is the most spatially accurate representation of these systems available. For further information click on the "abstract" and "supplemental" icons above. Supplemental_Information: The GIS version of the Manitoba DLS Grid is a dynamic grid. As more and more Manitoba Cadastral Mapping Series products become available the less spatially accurate DLS data in the background will be phased out. The creation of the holes is only an interim solution. Eventually all of the individual datasets within the holes will be consolidated into a master and the holes eliminated. The grid presently consists of 9 tiles for the less spatially accurate background DLS fabric. Users wishing to fill in the holes should download datasets from the Manitoba Cadastral Mapping Series listed under the "Cadastral" component of the MLI. This cadastral dataset is a specialized map representation of the Manitoba DLS system and the parcel boundary data has been mathematically adjusted or graphically manipulated. As such it must not be interpreted by the user as defining the true location of any parcel's boundaries on the ground, nor its true size and area. Annotation shown on these cadastral products is intended as information only and is subject to human error. Any misuse or mis-interpretation of displayed parcel information, dimensions or otherwise, is at the user's own risk. Individual Manitoba Cadastral Mapping Series datasets were then superimposed on this master and the original 1999 DLS fabric common to these areas was deleted. The DLS boundaries in those areas external to the Manitoba Cadastral Mapping Series datasets were then shifted and edgematched to their corresponding DLS boundaries within the more spatially accurate Manitoba Cadastral mapping Series datasets. The polygons within the Manitoba Cadastral Mapping Series datasets were then removed to create "holes". The resulting product was then edgematched to the provincial boundaries and the northern manitoba theoretical township quarter-section product. Polygon topology was built and unqiue PINS added as display labels for each polygon in the grid. DLS descriptors were standardized and attached as attributes to the PINS in a relational database. This product was then divided into 9 tiles for ease of use by the end user. AutoCad DXF and ESRI Shape files were created for each tile. The product will be updated at periodic intervals as more Manitoba Cadastral Mapping series products become available to refine the spatial accuracy of the DLS fabric within the grid.
