Type Shapefile
This boundary file was made to show all the Wildlife Management Areas in Manitoba. The file is constantly being revised and updated.
This is the boundary file for Manitoba's Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs). The boundaries of this layer were delineated using the best available maps. The Manitoba Wildlife Act provides for the designation of Crown lands as Wildlife Management Areas for the "better management, conservation and enhancement of the wildlife resource of the province". Wildlife Management Areas exist for the benefit of wildlife and for the enjoyment of people. They play an important role in biodiversity conservation and provide for a variety of wildlife-related forms of recreation. Hunting and trapping are generally permitted in WMAs, but these activities may be prohibited or restricted in a few areas. The use of vehicles, off-road vehicles, watercraft, power boats, or airboats, may be restricted in some areas. Each WMA has its own set of restrictions in place to protect the integrity of the area.

The boundaries of this layer were delineated using the best available digital base data at the time. Polygons were unioned in ArcView based on Name, and Director of Surveys (DofS) Plan number. Those headings and structures were then adjusted to meet Conservation Area Reporting and Tracking System (CARTS) standards, and further manipulated to conform with a Disk Operating System (DOS) based naming system of no more than 8 characters. A new Wildlife Management Area Schema was created based on input from the Protected Areas Initiative, and the previous Wildlife Management layer from 2002 was loaded into the geodatabase with the appropriate fields matched to their new current fields. The following WMAs were added: Delta Marsh Wildlife Management Area, Wellington Wildlife Management Area, and Wakopa Wildlife Management Area.

vector data representing wildlife management area boundaries
Manitoba Cadastral Polygons 2015 A graphical dataset of parcel boundaries computed from registered plans of survey. The dataset also contains input plan dimensions, lot/block/plan numbers, unique parcel identifiers, street names, township/section fabric and natural boundaries where applicable. The data is spatially referenced to the prevailing national geodetic survey datum (NAD83) through direct occupation of selected property corners with GPS technology.
