These paper maps were scanned and then geo-referenced using Arcview Spatial Analyst. The shapefiles were converted to Arcinfo coverages in 2001 and cleaned of all slivers. These slivers were of a very small nature and no further investigation of where the true boundary location was carried out. In January of 2002 the cover was checked against the Manitoba Provincial Boundary located on the MLI site. There was a gap of approximately 40 m between the provincial boundary and the bedrock cover. Due to the fact the sand and gravel cover is so general to begin with the provincial boundary was replaced with the MLI provincial boundary dataset.
